This beautiful three-mile looping trail is well-maintained, but don’t be fooled. You’ll have plenty of access to different natural wildlife habitats, including deer, birds, beaver, and more. Most of the trail is paved or consists of tightly-packed gravel, making for a hazard-free hiking environment. This route actually consists of two separate loops connected by a well-maintained wooden bridge reserved only for foot traffic. Chagrin River Park Trail is perfect for bird-watching, dog-walking, and kid-friendly hikes. If you want to enjoy a hike in brisker temperatures, it’s open year-round for your enjoyment.
Squire’s Castle at North Chagrin is one of the unique hiking trails in Ohio. You’ll encounter a massive castle from the 1890s fashioned German baronial castles and gatehouses. This trail is a bit more challenging than others; with a 213-ft elevation gain, you’re in for a moderate workout. Other trails weave in and out along the way, as it’s a part of a series of trails, including the North Chagrin Reservation Loop, a 7.7-mile trail with over 500-ft elevation gains! Locals enjoy horseback riding on this trail during warmer weather and snowshoeing during the heavy Cleveland-area winters.
This laid-back trail is excellent for a quick jog with your dog or a stroll with the family, as the 137-ft elevation increase isn’t too demanding. Chair Factory Falls Trail rests to the right of Interstate-90, bordered to the north and east by Jordan Creek, where many locals enjoy fishing just off the trail. The aforementioned creek provides a few rapid stages that roll down into waterfalls that provide amazing views during the winter months when they freeze!
