How Does the CMBS™ Work?

The CMBS™ system uses a radar transmitter placed in the grille to measure the distance between your vehicle and other objects in front of you. Regardless of whether it is a pedestrian, a vehicle, or any other object, the radar and high-resolution camera will scan ahead and alert you to any danger. Both visual and audio warnings are emitted throughout the cabin, letting the driver know that it’s time to apply the brakes. If necessary, the system will automatically engage the brakes to slow or stop your vehicle.

Stages When Danger is Detected

There are a few different stages the CMBS™ Honda system goes through when it detects a collision. These are as follows:

• Stage 1: The driver is alerted with both visual and audio warnings to avoid the potential collision ahead.
• Stage 2: The system automatically applies the brakes slowly to mitigate a potential collision.
• Stage 3: The brakes are then applied in full to reduce your speed and, whenever possible, avoid the collision altogether.

Most drivers will respond before the third stage; however, it’s there if you need it, providing you and your passengers with peace of mind as you travel.
