Those who compare the 2022 vs. 2021 Civic will find plenty to get excited about in both models, but the 2022 Honda Civic offers more standard and available technologies. It also features a sharper, more minimal design, and according to some early reviews, a more engaging performance. Take a closer look at the details before you check out both models in person at our dealership.

Pricing: 2022 vs. 2021 Civic

Your monthly payments will be about the same whether you choose the 2022 Honda Civic or the outgoing 2021 model:

Fuel Economy & Performance: 2022 vs. 2021 Civic

Although your choice of engine and transmission will impact your final fuel economy ratings, the 2022 Honda Civic is ever-so-slightly more efficient than the outgoing model:

  • 2022 Honda Civic: Up to 33 mpg city and 42 mpg highway^
  • 2021 Honda Civic: Up to 32 mpg city and 42 mpg highway^^

The base-level Civic engine is unchanged, and it continues to deliver 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque. With that said, the available 1.5L turbocharged engine is a little stronger in the new year:

  • 2022 Honda Civic with 1.5L Turbo: 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque
  • 2021 Honda Civic with 1.5L Turbo: 174 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque

At the time of this writing, only the 2021 model is available in performance-focused Si and Type R configurations. However, we expect these models to rejoin the 2022 Civic lineup in the near future.

Standard & Available Features: 2022 vs. 2021 Civic

The 2022 Honda Civic provides more of the standard technology features that Painesville and Willoughby drivers are searching for:

  • Standard Infotainment in the 2022 Civic: 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, 4-speaker audio system
  • Standard Infotainment in the 2021 Civic: 5.0-inch LCD display, Bluetooth®, 4-speaker audio system

It’s also important to note that the 2022 model offers available technology features that have never been seen in the Civic before now. These include a 9.0-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Bose® Premium Audio System, and a wireless device charging pad.
